Hip Flexors

Hip adductors

Medial rotators

Note: There is no single muscle that internally rotates the hip. Instead, internal rotation occurs as a result of synergistic activity of the tensor fasciae latae, gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus the adductor longus, brevis, and magnus, and the pectineus.

Hip extensors

Hip extension is accomplished through synergistic activity of the gluteus maximus, hamstrings (biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus), and the posterior head of the adductor magnus.

Deep rotators

These muscles lie deep in the gluteal compartment and insert around the greater tubercle. They perform hip external rotation.
